In the immortal words of the late "Rowdy Roddy" Piper, "I came here to coach soccer and chew bubblegum and I'm all out of bubblegum".
I grew up in what many consider God's country, a small town outside of Nashville, Tennessee. I began playing recreational soccer at age 5 and continued until I joined my first club team when I was 8 or 9. We were called The Gallatin Thunder and we warmed up to Garth Brooks', "The Thunder Rolls". Given what I now know now about the song's meaning I question our parents' and coaches' judgement, but back then we thought we were the best thing since sliced bread. We went on to win many tournaments, do not fact check this. I continued playing with various club teams through high school where American football beckoned me with its siren's call and I split time between the two sports.
For the majority of my career I played keeper and fully believe them to be the most important player on the pitch. You are welcome to debate me, but I will not listen to your lies.
The two things I believe in most are competing at a high level and doing it with class. I want each player to know when they step on the pitch I expect them to give their best effort and whatever the outcome we will treat the other team and referees with respect.
I have been married for a long time to my beautiful wife, Dena, with whom we share 3 children. Abby is my oldest and we have two younger boys Gabe and Reid. I have had the privilege to help coach each of them in their respective sports. Each one independently filled out the "How'd I Do?" questionnaire I provided them at the end of their season with 5 stars and "would recommend to a friend".
In all seriousness, I look forward to helping grow the love of the game in each of the players and develop them into outstanding players on the pitch as well as off.
